Stevan M. Weine is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine, where he is also director of global medicine and director of the Center for Global Health. He is a senior adviser for mental health and psychosocial support for MedGlobal, an organization that provides healthcare in disaster regions. He is the author of “When History Is a Nightmare: Lives and Memories of Ethnic Cleansing in Bosnia-Herzegovina” (1999), “Testimony and Catastrophe: Narrating the Traumas of Political Violence” (2006) and “Best Minds: How Allen Ginsberg Made Revolutionary Poetry From Madness” (2023).
